Weekend Events – 2/8-2/9

Happy February! We’re trying to enjoy the quiet island days, but sometimes we all need an event to look forward to! Below are a few of the events happening this weekend – ranging from fundraisers, to parties! Cooking Demo @ Bartlett’s Farm

Saturday, February 8th

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and for many cooking a nice dinner is an act of love & appreciation. However, not all of us are pros in the kitchen. Don’t worry though, Bartlett’s Farm has got you covered. This Saturday, February 8th, from 11am to 12pm there will be a cooking demo so you can learn to cook a great meal for your loved ones this Valentine’s Day. Join Bartlett’s bakery professional, Cheryl Gregorich, as she demonstrates how to make vegan “Beef Bourguignon.” Check out the event details here.

Gene Mahon Fundraiser @ The Chicken Box

Sunday, February 9th, 5pm to 8pm

Gene Mahon is Nantucket’s beloved “Mahon About Town.” He’s been an island staple for years – showing up at every island event, big or small. He is currently facing serious health issues and has been away from his beloved Nantucket since late October. There has been a Go Fund Me page circling around the island for the past month. You can find the link here. There will also be a live fundraising event at the The Chicken Box this Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. There will be live music from Hither Creek, a silent & live auction, food, and a cash bar. It’s time to rally around one of our own!

Academy Awards Viewing Party @ The Atheneum 

Sunday, February 9th, 7:30pm to 11pm

Movies’ biggest night is upon us and the The Atheneum is throwing a party to celebrate! Come watch the 92nd Academy Awards on the big screen at the library. The party is complete with a red carpet, popcorn (and other snacks), movie trivia and more! Guests can fill out a ballot to guess who the winners will be, and enter a chance to win dinner and a movie for two! It’s a free event and all are welcome. Click here for more details!
