Weekend Events – 1/25-1/26

January on Nantucket means we’ve got some time to live a little slower, enjoy some downtime, and maybe try a few new things in the spirit of a New Year. Coming up in the next week or so are some events that offer a little creativity, some entertainment, and a touch of community service to round out your weekend. Looking for something else? Check out the Mahon About Town and Chamber of Commerce events calendars for a full listing of this weekend’s events!

Saturday, January 25h

It’s time to get the creative juices flowing at Free Family Art Time with the Artists Association of Nantucket. Stop by their building on Amelia Drive between 10:30am and 11:30am for some family fun. Children under 6 can come and join a children’s art teacher, make a mess and have fun! No registration required.

Saturday, January 25th

It’s time for the winter comedy series! The White Heron Theater is hosting a night of laughs with Carolyn Plummer and Brad Mastrangelo tomorrow from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are $25. We’d love to see you there!

Saturday January 25th

Bundle up and head outside for some crisp winter fresh air with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. Tomorrow join Allen & Neil on a winter walk of the kettle ponds of the Middle Moors. Learn about the glacial history of Nantucket, the cultural importance and the current ecology of this little known section of the island. This event is free but please register here so they know how many will be joining the walking crew!

Saturday January 25th – Sunday January 26th

The Academy Awards are rapidly approaching in just a few short weeks. How many of the big Oscar contenders have you seen this year? Check out the schedule at the Dreamland this week, and be sure to watch some of the best movies of the year! Looking for a fun family movie? Doolittle is playing all weekend.
