Sustainable Nantucket Farmers & Artisans Market

Saturday October 12th | 9am to 1pm | Downtown Nantucket

Head to the intersection of North Cambridge Street and Union Street on Saturday the 12th because that is where you’ll find the final Farmers and Artisans Market of the season. From local farm stands and growers to non-profit organizations and local artists, this market is the perfect place to do some early Christmas shopping, learn about local Nantucket organizations, and gather some ingredients for a delicious feast! Most importantly, you’ll find the Sustainable Nantucket table at this event where you can learn more about this wonderful organization and all the work they do to raise awareness about local food.

 

Sankaty Lighthouse Tour

Saturday October 12th | 11am to 2pm | Sankaty Lighthouse in Sconset

Always wondered what the view was like from the top of Sankaty Lighthouse? Well, here’s your opportunity to see for yourself! The lighthouse will be open for tours with The Sconset Trust on Saturday from 11am to 2pm, where you can climb up and enjoy the sweeping views of the Atlantic and the eastern end of the island. Children must be at least 6 years old to go to the top and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your walking shoes, there are a lot of stairs! Admission into the lighthouse is free.

 

Nantucket Shorts Festival 

Saturday October 12th | 4pm | Dreamland Theater 

Get your popcorn and find a seat for a great night of films at the Dreamland Theater! Short movie makers ranging from amateurs to professionals have been working hard on their short films (2 to 12 minutes) all summer long and are ready to present their work to you. The committee has picked the best of the best from all the submissions and the winners will be shown on the big screen in the main theater. Tickers are required and can be purchased here.


SUNDAY OCTOBER 13th

Nantucket Half Marathon 

Sunday October 13th | 8am 

After enjoying all those cranberry treats yesterday, it is time for a quick jog around the neighborhood! The 9th annual Nantucket Half Marathon kicks off at 8am on Fairgrounds Road. The race course travels 13.1 miles through dirt and sandy roads, quiet bike baths and lightly traveled streets with views of the ocean. Not interested in running? Cheer on the runners as they cross the finish line!

 

23K-9 Walk 

Sunday October 13th | Madaket to Sconset

Calling all dog (and animal) lovers … get your walking shoes ready, because there is a 23 kilometer walk from Madaket to Sconset on Sunday to raise money and awareness of all the great things that NiSHA does for our island animals. Lee Real Estate’s very own Kiri Mullen, will be participating so give her a wave as she traverses the island!

 

Nantucket Cranberry Festival 

Sunday October 13th | 11am to 4pm | Milestone Cranberry Bogs (220 Milestone Road)

The Nantucket Cranberry Festival is Nantucket’s favorite family fall event because there are activities for the entire family to enjoy. Travel to the cranberry bogs on Milestone Road where you’ll learn about the history of cranberry farming on the island and get the chance to give harvesting your own cranberries a try. In addition to the history lesson, you’ll be able to play family games, take tours of the bogs with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, try a variety of foods from island vendors, and enjoy live music and beautiful fall scenery. In short, this event is not to be missed! Admission to the festival is free. Parking is $20 per car.

 

Cobblestones & Cranberries 

Sunday October 13th | All Day | Downtown Nantucket

Cobblestones & Cranberries is the newest event from the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce to celebrate this holiday weekend. Head to Main Street and shop in participating stores for a chance to win some great prizes. Visit the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce website here for a full list of participating stores.

 

Sandbar @ Jetties Closing Party

Sunday October 13th | 11:30am to 6pm | Jetties Beach

Dust off your poodle skirts and leather jackets to celebrate the end of another great season at Jetties Beach. Sandbar is closing for the season and is heading into the off-season with a Grease themed bash. Head down to the beach for 50% off their food and merchandise. If you’re looking for some live tunes, don’t worry because Cranberry Alarm Clock will be playing from 3pm to 6pm.

 

Wet Paint & Fresh Works

Sunday October 13th | 3pm | Nantucket Yacht Club

Come check out the latest works from members of the Artist’s Association of Nantucket! The Nantucket Yacht Club is hosting a silent and live auction, both of which are open to the public, as well as a benefit dinner. MONDAY OCTOBER 14th

Flannel Jam @ Cisco Brewers

Monday October 14th | 11am to 7pm | Cisco Brewers

Head out to the island’s favorite hangout spot to celebrate fall! Levitate has partnered with Cisco Brewers to bring you live music all day, hot new flannels, games for kids, great food & drinks, and more. In addition to the tasty treats, Trampled by Turtles, Ballroom Thieves, Liz Cooper & The Stampede, and Buckle & Shake will be providing live music from open to close. There will be spiked hot cider, made to order cider donuts, and most importantly, a hay maze so the kids will have a blast too! Tickets are available here.

One of LRE’s favorites is packing up for the season, but not before they throw a little party first. This year’s theme is 007, so find your best James Bond outfit and head down the wharf for the last oysters and CRUcombers of the season!

Close out the holiday weekend down on the Wharf with the iconic 86SWR closing party. Straight Wharf Restaurant is wrapping up its 44th season on the Wharf. How do they celebrate? By offering their delicious food for 1/2 off. Make a reservation so you can be sure to enjoy one last clambake before you can’t have another one until May 2020.
