A Perfect Day in ‘Sconset: From Morning Bakery Runs to Sunset Bluff Walks
When planning your trip to Nantucket, anyone will tell you that visiting ‘Sconset is a must. From its quaint cottages to the famous Bluff Walk, ‘Sconset is a quiet, picturesque neighborhood. To help ensure that you see the best of one of our favorite Nantucket areas, we’ve created the perfect day out in ‘Sconset.
There is no better way to start your Siasconset morning than with a blueberry muffin from Sconset Market. Centrally located, Sconset Market offers a variety of grocery items alongside coffee and pastries. We recommend getting to the market early, as their muffins sell out! If a pastry just isn't hearty enough for you, Claudette’s Sandwich Shop serves breakfast sandwiches until eleven. No matter which you choose, be sure to enjoy your breakfast with a view. Head over to Sconset Beach to eat your muffin or sip your coffee as you stroll through the quiet, charming streets.
Whether you decide to spend your morning at the beach or exploring downtown ‘Sconset, be sure to grab lunch at one of the local favorites. While we recommend Claudette’s and ‘Sconset Market for casual sandwiches, the Summer House Beach Bistro is a great sit-down lunch spot with an unbeatable view.
After fueling up with some lunch, be sure to head to Sankaty Head Lighthouse. Located a mile and a half outside of ‘Sconset, Sankaty Head is accessible on foot or by bike, and is one of Nantucket’s most recognizable landmarks. Pro tip: If you can’t make it to Sankaty Head before dinner, stop by on your way out of ‘Sconset and watch the sun set against the lighthouse! But, if you do have the time, visit Sankaty at the end of the famous ‘Sconset Bluff Walk.
Spanning about two miles, the Bluff Walk is a picturesque footpath that trails through some of ‘Sconset’s most beautiful spots. From breathtaking ocean views to manicured hydrangea bushes, Bluff Walk offers a gorgeous setting for you to end your day.
As your day in ‘Sconset comes to a close, we recommend dinner at Summer House or The Chanticleer. Both restaurants are quintessentially Nantucket: bright and airy with seafood-based menus. No matter which you choose, reservations are a must. Be sure to book your dinner reservation well in advance!
From quiet garden paths to expansive ocean lookouts, ‘Sconset is one of the most beautiful spots on Nantucket.
