The best way to see the island is from the water. There is no shortage of ways to get out there ranging from kayaking to fishing to sailing. Check out the list below of LRE’s favorite ways to get out on the water.

Hal has been fishing the waters surrounding Nantucket for years and knows all the best spots of where to catch the best fish. If you’re a seasoned veteran or new to casting lines, Capt. Hal Herrick will know exactly how to help you out!

Albacore Fishing Charters

Albacore Fishing Charters runs a fishing charter out Straight Wharf in Nantucket Harbor. The Albacore team has been fishing the waters off Nantucket for 50 years. The boys on the Albacore have a wide range of fishing options whether you want to spend the whole day on the water or just fish for a few hours. Check out their Instagram for some great footage of the tunas they were bringing in last year.

Endeavor Sailing Cruises

The Endeavor Sailing Excursions with Captain Jim is the longest operating sailing charter. There are regular daily sailing cruises around the waters of Nantucket, and are also available to rent for a private charter. Sailing excursions are available May through October.

Nantucket Community Sailing

Jetties Sailing Center | Website

Nantucket Community Sailing is looking to bring the joy of sailing to the youth of Nantucket. They offer sailing classes, as well as sailing lessons, and rentalsĀ  – so whatever your skill level there is something for everyone! NCS runs their rental shop out of Jetties Beach and have rentals by the hour, so you can go out and enjoy the harbor for a quick trip or for the whole day!

Sea Nantucket

Sea Nantucket is the island’s go-to spot for kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals. They have a variety of one and two person ocean kayaks, as well as a variety of stand-up paddle boards. Rent something for a quick spin out on in the harbor, or if you’re renting a place and want something at home they will deliver the equipment to your home and various parts of the harbor.
